Unprovoked shelling of Indian forces on Wednesday killed one civilian, while six others were injured across the Line of Control (LoC), local media reported.

Police chief Shesh Paul Vaid said the terrorists had planned an Uri-type attack that had taken place past year, resulting in the killing of 19 Indian soldiers and the retaliatory surgical strikes on Pakistani terror camps by India.

Reports state that Indian troops from a Sikh Light Infantry battalion detected and opened fire at the intruders on Tuesday in the nick of time and sent them back across the LoC.

The Indian Army has retaliated to the intrusion bid and the operation is still underway.

On September 23, Pakistan troops targeted BoPs in Arnia, RS Pura and Ramgarh and Poonch sectors along the IB and LoC in Jammu, Samba and Poonch districts resulting in injuries to seven persons.

The Canadian women's hockey team will host the archrival United States in Winnipeg on December 5 in a pre-Olympic matchup. The U.S., Canada, Sweden and Finland will also face each other November 5-12 in Tampa, Florida, in the Four Nations Cup.

Sources said that off-late several infiltration attempts by the Pakistan Army to push in terrorists from across the global border and the LoC have been successfully foiled by the Army and the BSF. With the separatists in Kashmir on the run due to attacks on their conduits for terror funding, the toughening Indian position on terrorist infiltration could go hand in hand in deterring terror.

- There have been several BAT attacks in the past in which Indian jawans have been beheaded or their bodies mutilated.

Singh's comments come after the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a report that Dar had gone to cast his vote in the parliamentary by-poll on April 9 and he was a victim of "wrongful confinement". The incident had led to parts of the 740-km long LoC witnessing escalation in tensions.

The de facto border and also the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir have once again turned hot and active hostilities are taking place on nearly daily basis.
