Twitter tests doubling the length of tweets to 280 characters

"Twitter plans to increase the limit to #280characters since it's hard for Trump to make a declaration of war with only 140 characters", comedy writer Nick Jack Pappas wrote.

Twitter is testing 280 character limit tweets.

Well, it looks like that may change we got word that Twitter is testing out a new system that doubles the character limit to 280.

The feature will be available in all languages except Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

Just 0.4% of tweets sent in Japanese have 140 characters, which is a "considerable difference to a 9% of English tweets having 140 characters", the company said. Ars Technica notes that this suggests the doubling the character limit will simply allow English users to tweet more comfortably without restrictions. "It's what makes it such a great way to see what's happening", they wrote.

"Trying to cram your thoughts into a tweet - we've all been there, and it's a pain".

Mexico, Canada economies set to emerge from NAFTA talks intact: Reuters poll
They're talking about America first, they're talking in a very protectionist way about the American economy. So, we're probably gonna keep depressing North America's labor standards for the foreseeable future.

Twitter boss Jack Dorsey explained that the move would help users better express themselves.

Tweets totaling 140 characters make up for 4 percent of all English communication on Twitter, excluding Direct Messages.

The company says it will try out the feature with a small group of users before deciding to launch it more broadly.

Twitter acknowledged the "emotional attachment" some users might have toward the 140 characters.

Starting today, you may be able to fit more into a single tweet. Gifs, memes and emojis run rampant after every major piece of news breaks on the social media site and oftentimes, the only thing seemingly keeping the entire app together is the 140 character limit. "But, we tried this, saw the power of what it will do, and fell in love with this new, still brief, constraint", Rosen posted.
