Verma's statement follows Congress' assertion on the issues, and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi's claim that the affidavit filed by the Centre may not stand the legal scrutiny as refugees are also entitled to fundamental rights. "Whatever decision is to be taken, it will be taken by the court", Singh told newspersons on the sidelines of a function here.

Rohatgi said that people referring to Article 21 of the Indian constitution does not live in India and in reality don't have any right on the Indian Constitution.

Meanwhile, the apex court refused a plea to issue a notice to the National Human Rights Commission, which openly backed Rohingya Muslims and said that it would argue against their deportation.

Human Rights Watch urged India, the world's biggest democracy, to follow the global principle of non-refoulement, which prohibits sending back refugees to a place where their lives are in danger.

He said Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would broach the Rohingya issue at the United National General Assembly session later this week.

WH Denies Claims It's Staying In Climate Deal
McMaster also said on ABC's "This Week" that the United States might stay in the Paris deal under some changes. Trump "has been clear, United States withdrawing unless we get pro-America terms", she said on Twitter .

The ministry also directed the state governments to set up a task force at district level to identify and deport "illegally-staying foreign nationals".

While Bangladesh has been the main destination for Rohingya over the years, some have ended up in India and Nepal. The government estimate puts the figure of Rohingya refugees living in India beyond 40,000 with maximum concentration in and around Jammu. "We are given to understand that in the affidavit given to the Supreme Court the government has suggested that it is not bound by any global treaty", he said. Where it is a humanitarian question, there the government has immediately stepped in and extended help to Bangladesh government in tackling that problem.

India already has serious security concerns over illegal migrants staying in a number of its cities, he said.

The Centre has told the Supreme Court that many Rohingyas have acquired documents meant for Indian citizens only like Aadhaar, PAN and Voter-ID.

"It is incumbent and obligatory on the government to take every part of the political spectrum into confidence in a collective sense on this very important and sensitive matter", he said.
