Investigators have made an arrest in a cold case murder that has gone unsolved for a quarter of a century.

"They never, ever gave up on Lisa". She had been sexually assaulted and murdered.

According to the Hampden County District Attorney's Office, the money in the store's register and Ziegert's personal property, including her purse and school materials, were recovered from the card shop by police and appeared undisturbed.

The suspect was reportedly arrested in CT on a warrant for kidnapping, murder, and aggravated rape. It was not immediately clear whether Schara has an attorney.

Her body was found four days later in a wooded area.

A break in the case came previous year, when Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni released a phenotype composite sketch generated from DNA at the crime scene.

A man charged with raping and killing a MA teacher's aide after abducting her from her night job at a card shop 25 years ago was ordered held without bail Tuesday.

The next day, a person close to Schara contacted police with information about handwritten documents in which he admitted raping and killing Ziegert, Gulluni said.

Upon arriving in the morning the clerk found the store open, the lights on, and the victim's vehicle parked where it was the night before.

A year ago, prosecutors were able to create a composite sketch of the suspect using a new technology called DNA phototyping.

Last year, a single source male DNA profile was developed from evidence taken from Lisa's body. Later that day, police tried to find Schara, and learned he had fled to Connecticut, Gulluni says.

"We'll do anything, and sit through anything to have this happen, and to face this person and to say, 'We got you, '" Diane Ziegert said.

He was discharged from the CT medical facility on Monday and is now being held in CT on a fugitive from justice charge, WSHM reports.

"It has always been about justice for Lisa", Dee Zieger said.
