Manchester United prepare £92m bid to sign Arsenal transfer target Thomas Lemar

The newspaper of the mercato Arsenal still dreams of Lemar
Thomas Lemar dearly slipped out of Arsenal's hands this summer, but Arsene Wenger is hopeful that he can rope in his compatriot come the beginning of next year.
It's claimed that Lemar's representatives are already aware of United's interest in the winger's signature, and the deal could cost United a club-record £92million should they make their move in January.
But as explained by vice-president Vadim Vasilyev, the club merely money to comply with Financial Fair Play rules after a number of years of big-spending.
"In 2015 we had to sell in order to meet FFP conditions, so it was more of an obligation", Vasilyev told L'Equipe when asked what the difference was between Martial and Lemar.
Monaco are believed to be a title challenger in France's Ligue 1. "You've got to accept the risk (to then sell someone at a lower price the next time round) and it's by taking risks that we have got here".
With that in mind, Monaco were evidently able to turn down a fee for Lemar that was more than double what they allowed Silva to go for earlier in the summer, even though the Portuguese winger is similarly influential and only little more than a year older.
"We are not looking for records".
However, it looks as though the Gunners have stolen a march on their rivals as the Daily Star claim today that Arsenal have resurrected their £92m deal and have agreed terms in principal with Monaco to sign Lemar in January. "Sales, they are the effect of having a great season, the league title, a great manager and an excellent recruitment cell and scouting network".
