Pop icon Janet Jackson came through Houston and made a surprise appearance at the George R. Brown Convention Center to visit evacuees who are sheltered at the arena.

Janet Jackson is getting political on her new world tour by highlighting the need to crack down on domestic terrorism across the U.S. The setlist included plenty of new material, as well as number of medleys - rather than full versions - of the star's long string of hits, including "Miss You Much", "Control", "What Have You Done for Me Lately", "Alright", "All for You" and "When I Think of You".

A source told Entertainment Tonight last month that the singer, 51, has lost over 65 pounds in preparation for her State of the World Tour and "has her pre-baby body back and then some".

The singer's second tour stop is set for tomorrow (September 9), at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Trump's deal with Democrats makes Republicans shudder
The U.S. dollar got a boost on news of agreement on the debt ceiling, which caps how much money the U.S. government can borrow. The party in power - in this case Republicans - often argues for as long of a debt limit increase as possible for two reasons.

Many fans, if lucky enough to nab a ticket, have had to endure teasing from the singer on her Instagram page as she shared a photo of herself preparing for the tour. I'm so excited for the State of the World Tour. The singer wrote in the caption, "Hey u guys". We r in rehearsal mode.

Jackson quietly married Qatari billionaire Wissam Al Mana in 2012, and the two welcomed son, Eissa, this past January.

She says she plans to visit some of the victims of the massive storm and let people know she cares about their plight.

In May 2017 she finally broke her silence on the matter in a video for her fans where she confirmed the split. We are in court and the rest is in God's hands'. One reporter says in the clip, "Between 2001 and now, we've seen three times more deaths caused by right-wing extremists than Islamic terrorists".
