Pakistan cricketer Sharjeel Khan banned for five years
In 2012-13, Pakistan's Test leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was imposed a life ban by an anti-corruption tribunal of the England and Wales Cricket Board for fixing in English county cricket while playing for Essex.
It was understood that the two players were said to have met these people near the team hotel, after the opening game against Peshawar Zalmi - in Pakistan Super League - at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in February.
After clearing Irfan from the case with a ban of one-year and a hefty fine, Sharjeel's case will be the second which will be decided on Wednesday.
While talking to media, lawyer of Sharjeel Khan said that after reading detailed verdict, we will file review petition.
The tribunal could hand a tougher punishment on Khalid Latif as he has, unlike Sharjeel, not accepted the authority of the tribunal through his lawyer and also challenged the formation of the tribunal twice in the Lahore High Court. He said, "We were expecting acquittal on spot-fixing charges", he said.
"They should be banned for life if found guilty". Even the other party, PCB are not happy with the decision and its legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi said that the board was not happy with the punishment.
All five allegations against him have been proved, the decision said.
After this ban, Sharjeel will not be able to play global as well as domestic cricket.
The cricket fans in Pakistan were taken aback when in February, this year during the first week of Pakistan Super League, PCB sent back two cricketers Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif home besides suspending them.
The 28-year-old Sharjeel Khan has played 25 One-Day internationals, one Test and 15 Twenty20 internationals match for Pakistan.
