ARSENAL HAVE REJECTED a bid of £50 million from Manchester City for Alexis Sanchez, according to latest reports.

On Tuesday it was reported by David Ornstein of BBC Sport that Arsenal turned down an offer for Sanchez from fellow Premier League side Manchester City.

Sanchez was signed by Guardiola for Barcelona from Udinese in the summer of 2011 and was managed by him until the Catalan left at the close of the following season.

"Listen to this, one source has confirmed to us that City are willing to offer Raheem Sterling as part of any potential deal".

England winger Sterling signed from Liverpool for £49million in 2015 and has made a strong start to the season with two goals in City's opening three Premier League games.

The Chilean global made his season debut for Arsenal on Sunday, and he was hardly a factor in the 4-0 demolition the team suffered at the hands of Liverpool.

Arsene Wenger has previously stated his reluctance to sell his prize asset, particularly to a title rival, but with Sanchez prepared to run out his contract, desperate times may call for desperate measures.

Arsenal have denied Alexis Sanchez has handed in a transfer request.

City have been strongly linked with a move for the Chilean worldwide all summer and it seems they've now stepped-up their interest by opening formal talks with Arsenal.

They are reporting this morning that the 28-year-old has asked the management of the Chile national team if he could leave their training in order to sort out a "personal matter".
