Man Finds Hours-Old Baby Abandoned, Covered In Ants

Baby foot

A newborn girl was left abandoned in bushes outside a Texas apartment complex less than an hour after she was born.

The infant was found outside the Cypress Creek apartment complex (pictured) in Houston, Texas, at 5am on Thursday.

A resident at the complex, who was on his way to work, heard a baby crying, looked in a flower bed and found the newborn covered in ants and other debris. He took the baby to his apartment and called 911, investigators said.

In a cell phone video taken by neighbor John Baldwin, the baby is seen lying on the ground screaming and crying.

The mother of the baby and another person from the apartment were taken into custody by the deputies, with the mother now undergoing a medical and psychological evaluation.

Peterson, who made the unpleasant discovery at around 5 a.m. on August 10 in Houston, Texas, said that he initially thought the crying baby girl was a doll, according to KHOU.

"I picked the baby up, and the baby had mucus and blood and all kinds of stuff all over her body".

He told local Channel 2 News: "She was there on the ground in the flower bed with ants". There was bombshell testimony heard in a Houston courtroom, where a man claiming to be the father of the baby said he had no idea the mother was pregnant.

Arsenal urged to avoid a Robin van Persie situation with Alexis Sanchez
Both Arsenal and Leicester City will be debuting new star strikers as they face off in the opening match on Friday. Arsenal was concluded the last season with three consecutive wins at the last moment of the tournament.

"Without this neighbour, we could be looking at probably a whole different scene", said HCSO Deputy Thomas Gilliland.

The detectives went up to the door and knocked, but the people inside refused to open the door.

Investigators believe the 21-year-old mother had the baby in the apartment before dumping her outside.

The baby, who weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces when she was found, is being treated in the neonatal ICU for the infection and a rapid heartbeat.

Child Protective Services is helping in the investigation.

Neighbors questioned why the mother had left the baby outside the apartments when there is a hospital less than a block away.

A hearing will be held Friday to determine who will get custody of the baby.
