Liverpool legend Carragher launches stunning attack on wantaway Coutinho

Barcelona set sights on Tottenham's Christian Eriksen as Liverpool refuse to sell Philippe Coutinho

Great things are expected of Liverpool's exciting front three of Salah, Firmino and Mane - all were on the scoresheet - but it remains to be seen if they will be complemented by Coutinho this season.

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has submitted a transfer request, hours after the Premier League club released a statement saying he is not for sale.

It was further reported that this has led to a transfer request thrown in by Coutinho, who is hoping to switch to Camp Nou this summer.

The Reds boss has said that the "timing" of Coutinho's request to leave Liverpool makes it even more out of the question, adding that it's impossible to put a price on the Brazil global because it's too late in the window to try to replace him.

Record Liverpool signing Mohamed Salah says he has dreamed of joining the club ever since playing as them on the PlayStation. "I think I have said it already a few times, but maybe that's not 100% clear". Coutinho is reportedly viewed by the Barcelona hierarchy as the preferred choice to succeed Iniesta, but according to The Independent, Eriksen is also viewed as well suited to the club's style of play. It's getting to the stage where if he doesn't want to be here, no player is bigger than Liverpool.

Australia axes Western Force from Super Rugby
Clyne and ARU chief executive Bill Pulver were due to hold a press conference to discuss their decision in Sydney later Friday. Every Australian team lost more than they won in 2017 and for the second-straight year no local side made the semi-finals.

Manager Jurgen Klopp hinted that the club may have considered selling Coutinho had an offer come in for the player earlier in the transfer window, and Carragher agrees.

Watford and Liverpool had a lot to live up to after Arsenal and Leicester lifted the curtain on a new Premier League season with an wonderful game on Friday, but they certainly delivered.

Former Chelsea winger Salah, who joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the off-season, won a penalty converted by Roberto Firmino in the 54th minute and then bundled in the Brazilian's lofted pass from close range.

The Reds will have little time to find a replacement should the 25-year-old be sold - but with the fee expect to be over £100m, they won't be short on cash to replace him.

"I don't think I ever told you anything about what I spoke to players [about]".
