Rahul visits flood-hit district of Assam
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who is on a brief visit to flood-hit Banasakantha district of Gujarat, was shown black flags while his vehicle was pelted with stones by the locals on Thursday.
Rahul is first expected to go to Rajasthan, which was also lashed by torrential rain last week, before touring some of the worst affected areas in Gujarat's Banaskantha and Patan districts. The Congress blamed the incident on the state's ruling BJP. The stones damaged the window panes of the auto in which Rahul Gandhi was travelling.
The spokesperson also said: "Rahulji is an SPG protectee".
From Lakhimpur, Rahul Gandhi flew to Silchar to attend the funeral of Congress veteran Santosh Mohan Deb who died on Wednesday.
