Well, thanks to an interview John Boyega did with ABC News, we now know that Lucasfilm did indeed handle Fisher's death by sending her character Leia off in what he describes as "an unbelievable way".

When Fisher passed away during the end of 2016 after suffering a medical emergency, the Star Wars family and fandom was shocked, saddened and concerned about what laid ahead for the uncertain future of the franchise.

Leia will get a sendoff fit for a princess in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, John Boyega reassures fans in a new interview. "[But] this movie, it sends her off in an wonderful, incredible way". That's the beauty of it: "she lives forever in a sense".

Boyega, who plays First Order Stormtrooper turned Resistance fighter Finn, is involved in a plotline that will see him and new character Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) go undercover for Resistance leader General Leia.

The Finn actor said when he learned of Fisher's death last December, "It was a unusual, odd feeling".

In the United States , the guy jumped out of a plane during landing
Yakel said no runways were affected and there was no operational impact after the incident . "The door's open. Other flights at the airport were able to operate as normal throughout the incident.

It's not clear if Boyega's comments mean Fisher's character will be kept alive off-screen in the series.

Lucasfilm had initially planned a larger role for Fisher in Star Wars: Episode IX but the Star Wars legend's untimely passing had cut their plans short, forcing them to keep Fisher to The Last Jedi.

There's also the question of how Leia will be written out of the trilogy.

In other Star Wars news, the film's ninth instalment, set for release in 2019, has a new writer (via The Hollywood Reporter).

The world may have grieved when actress, writer, and mental health advocate Carrie Fisher passed away past year but nobody could have probably felt more pained by the loss than the Star Wars legend's family.
