Dallas Parks: Lochwood Park

tagger-on-the-creek

From William Holston:

Dixon Branch is a lovely creek, and nice short trail through the cedar woods. There is a pond on private land, which overflows into this creek and over some falls. I’ve seen wood ducks, herons, kingfishers, yellow warblers and red bellied woodpeckers. I sit on a huge limestone boulder, and listen to the falling water, journaling, and letting the stress drop away. The best birthday party we ever had for our kids was at this park. I brought bottles to catch minnows and tadpoles, and thirty feet of rope. The boys repelled down the falls. Afterwards, cake and pizza at the Picnic Tables. All the boys were muddy and tired and claimed this was the most fun they’d had at a birthday party.
