Snap Life: Renegade Bus’ Flickr Project
Most of the photos we take are snap shots, little toss-away moments of inspiration or documentation. Back when photos had to be developed, our drawers used to be stuffed them: kids at different ages, grandma wearing a very 1980s sweater at Thanksgiving, that ice storm when the branch fell in the front yard. Most of these pictures don’t make it into frames or on office desks, but over time these images become like artifacts – little visual indicators of a time or place. In their own way they remind us something about ourselves and make the passing of time more palpable.
We want to use our Renegade Bus Flickr group like a digital version of that overstuffed drawer of photos. Contribute your photos of Dallas: passing moments on the street, frustrated times in traffic, interesting faces, pretty found-objects, awkward family photos – nothing is too personal, too obscure, or too unprofessional. The goal here is to create a new kind of panoramic portrait of the city, a picture of Dallas that continues to grow as each reader of Renegade Bus offers little fragments of their day-to-day lives. Heck, maybe you’ll find yourself carrying a camera around with you all the time.
